Comments: Began making presence known on the PETN net on 145.35 repeater. Same with the Metrolina 2meter Emergency Training Net on 146.940 repeater.
Have made contact and had meetings with Dick Smith American Red Cross EH Dole Chapter, Frank Thomason Rowan County Emergency Services Director, both regarding ARES needs/usage/requirements.
Rowan County VOAD meeting is scheduled for 3 Aug 09 1130 hrs at the Salvation Army building on Bringle Ferry Road Salisbury NC, myself and George Huffman KD4MXA plan to attend.
Contacted Gary Hattaway KQ1E re: using his repeater 145.410 for training nets, he is contacting his net controls to verify clear day/time for same.
Checking into viability of 145.73 repeater as this one has issues during inclimate weather and not sure of its reliability, it has in past been a part of the posted usable repeaters but at this time that is highly unlikely.
In process of establishing working relationship with the SMAT II Team TriadRAC (State Medical Assistance Team Triad Regional Advisory Commitee) based in Lexington NC which I am a member of regarding amateur comm setups in the M8 Mobile Field Hospital Trailer.
Established http://www.rowancares.org for point of contact of information on the web.  Site will contain information about ARES both locally and otherwise. This is a work in progress.
Have confirmation for a Basic and Advanced Skywarn class to be held at the EH Dole Red Cross Chapter Salisbury. Date is 22 Aug 09 at 1000 hrs. See http://www.rowancares.org for more info
Rowan ARES has been basically inactive for 3 years, and have been communicating with local club members trying to ascertain what if any procedures have been in place, contacts for repeaters, etc.
